One day in my teenage years, I found this painting my grandma did of a woman in a beautiful dress walking outdoors with this cute lacey umbrella. I remember seeing it and thinking “how did she do this?”. I studied it. That curiosity led to me asking for paint supplies for Christmas.
My first painting was an oil painting of the sun, the moon, and some hearts. I still have it. Since then I used acrylic paint. Some I liked, some were just awful.
I stopped painting for a while and then i realized i needed that outlet again years later as an adult. I wanted to try to paint something realistic. I prayed for an increase in my art skills and God delivered.
I felt an urge to paint portraits in my mid 20s. At first it was more abstract but you could tell who and what everything was but now I can copy an image fairly accurate. I moved onto color but not with portraits as much. I started doing animals, then plants and floral paintings. Now I just kind of do whatever I’m feeling. I have found a love for realism with a touch of abstract.
